Boyd’s art is often influenced by the preservation of memories. Similar to his work, tattoos are visual representations of time, acting as totems that allow the recipient to recall a certain thought, feeling, or event. Tattoos are tangible reminders of these complex, intangible experiences. He lends his abstract-line aesthetic to willing participants in hopes to assist in this act of recall, making permanent an impermanent memory, lasting with them until their death.
